Proskauer is proud to announce its role in closing a $4,500,000 property acquisition by Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County, Inc. (CAC). This new property will allow CAC to better serve the children and families of Suffolk County, Massachusetts and build a safer and better future for all families impacted by child abuse.
Since 1995, CAC has united public, private, and community partners to promote safety, healing, and justice for child victims of abuse and their families. Its goal is to provide a prompt, coordinated inter-agency response to child abuse so that children and their families can focus on healing. CAC works to improve access to medical and mental health care and investigative resources for victims and their families. CAC has served thousands of children over the years — in 2024 alone, it served over 1600 children, including 315 high-risk and exploited youth.
Looking to expand their operations by securing a permanent location for the organization, CAC approached Proskauer for guidance on structuring this complex real estate transaction. Among other things, the Firm assisted CAC with forming a new tax-exempt entity, the Children’s Advocacy Support Center of Suffolk County, Inc. (CASC), that will own and maintain the property on CAC’s behalf. The Firm also helped establish new corporate governance policies for CAC.
Tax partner David Miller and I led the Proskauer team in conjunction with co-counsel Rebecca Lee, chair of Mintz’s Real Estate Development Practice. The acquisition closed on August 5, 2026.
